Liberal Senator Guy Barnett today congratulated the Launceston City Council for its recent moves to upgrade Aurora Stadium and offered his full support.
"Aurora Stadium is a great venue with potential for increased capacity.
"If we can increase seating we can increase attendance and the economic and social benefits will flow all round.
"More 'big ticket' games (such as Hawthorn v Richmond) should be encouraged, particularly as the Tassie Hawks are reigning AFL premiers!
"The AFL should support these upgrade efforts in both word and deed.
"I look forward to working with the Council to gain a positive response from the Federal and State Governments to the redevelopment proposal," concluded Senator Barnett.
